Once Upon A Grime Meets Voltage [Interview]

Throughout 2010 Voltage was pretty much silent. The odd track popped up now and then on his YouTube, but there wasn't anything soild. In 2011 he's making a come-back and Nuttin On Voltz is the first step. Many new Grime fans may not know who Voltage is, so I decided to have a quick catch up with him. We summed up where he's started, who he rated in the Grime scene now, what's happening with the next volume of Certified Talent and talks all things to do with Nuttin On Voltz.

Tempa T Live In Edinburgh [Video]

Whilst in performing in Scotland Vice Magazine caught up with Slew Dem's Tempa T. Next Hype really threw Tempz into the spotlight. Although he did capatalise on the sucess through bookings he could of easily done the same with 2000 & Paxxx, which, we still don't have. Catch the interview with Tempz below and all four performances of Next Hype, iPar, Boy Off Da Ting and Boy Afghan after the jump.

Nico Lindsay - SB.TV Warm Up Session [Video]

BeatGeeks - Nightmare Instrumental EP [Release Info]

With their joint project Puddin N Treacle with ZDot and Wariko now out the way the Nottingham duo have decided to put out another release. The BeatGeeks are the same pair whos beat featured on Hyperfrank's first ever Volume Control and vocalled by Dot Rotten. On 1st April they are putting out a five track EP which features four instrumentals by themselves plus a joint beat with Skitz Beatz. You can see the tracklisting on the artwork above (click to enlarge) and you can pick up the Nightmare Instrumental EP via Amazon tomorrow.

Dot Rotten - It's Over (Wiley Reply) [Video]

It's good to see Dot has replied to Wiley, and it's all good to see there's a video to go alongside it. The bad thing though however, this isn't a Hip-Hop clash. So Dot's choice of using the Over beat vocalled by Drake was a bit of a mistake. His lyrical content is still on point, but the choice of beat and over-use of auto-tune didn't really help him in the clash.

Darq E Freaker - Cherryade [Release Info]

We've had the Lemonade beat that Gucci Mane vocalled, Orangeade by Southampton based producer Royal-T, now it's time for some Cherryade from Darq E Freaker. As well as being able to pick up the vinyl on the 18th April which includes Cherryade, Queen of Hoxton and Cape Town, you'll be able to download it digitally on the 4th May. So until then keep pressing the replay button on YouTube. Cherryade will be released via OilGang.

Jammer - Talk Is Cheap [Radio Rip]

With the video being released on Friday Jammer decided to give Logan the first play of his new track. There's been many tracks about gun and knife crimem and Jammer decided to give us his take on the situation. The Murkle Man goes on to say how talking about it isn't enough, we actually have to come together and do something about it. Check the radio rip below and watch out for the video on Friday.

Nico Lindsay – Best Of [Audio]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
With On My Mind comfortably doing the rounds and getting Nico's name out there a bit more, as has Exo Remedy's, Nico is looking to move onto the next project of the year already. Whether this Bouncer production will feature on any new project by Trim's cousin it isn't know yet. So until then check out Nico's new track with Bouncer behind the buttons below.

Kozzie, Rival & Merky ACE - Logan Sama Set [Audio]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
The first hour of this morning saw three of the most exciting talents in Grime take a trip to the Kiss 100 studios. All three of Kozzie, Rival and Merky ACE were there to promote the release of the Spartan Remix. Rival was also there to promote Lock Off The Rave plus the Rival vs Nytz EP. Family Tree's Merky ACE also got a few tracks played from Blue Battlefield which is out on 4th April. Listen to the set just shy of fifteen minutes below. If you want the set on your iPod, then download it here.

Edit: Here's footage from the night.

Also check out Merky ACE Where's Your Head At? produced by Faze Miyake. This track has been taken from Blue Battlefield.

Slix Feat. Ghetts, Calibar & Dymunds - Grind Remix [Video]

Unlike some artists who throw out a free download out and expect everyone to download it via Twitter, Calibar is certainly putting in the work to promote his project. We recently saw the video for Hard Work with Dot Rotten, and today it's another new video. This time around Ruff Sqwad's Slix makes a feature on the track as does Ghetts and female vocalist Dymunds. Download the Lost and Found mixtape which features the Grind Remix here.

Chronik - Tim & Barry Interview [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
With Chronik being out of the music game for a while Tim and Barry decided to catch up with him for an interview. Since his return Chronik has put out videos for Ring (via No Hats No Hoods) and Fatally Wounded. Chronik talks about not limiting yourself to one genre, putting in more work than some of the other artists around at the moment, plus how he respects everyone else who's in the Grime scene and their movement.

Dream Mclean, Dot Rotten & Young Adz - DJ Cameo Freestyles [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
I was half expecting to see a freestyle from Dream Mclean to be uploaded to DJ Cameo's YouTube account. Yesterday you would have seen him in the background of freestyles from Maxsta, Big Shizz and DeeKay. What I wasn't expecting though was to see Dot Rotten and Benjamin A.D's little brother Young Adz spit some lyrics for the camera though. Catch Dream's freestyle below and the other two after the jump.

Shorty, Frisco, Blay & Layz In The Studio [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
Cameraman Sketch caught some footage in the studio the other whilst with the Boy Better Know duo of Shorty and Frisco, plus Blay and Layz. With both Frisco and Footsie vocalling the Ghost Train instrumental recently Frisco decided to play it in the studio. Everyone decided to drop a few lyrics over the beat, and the following video will show you what happend that night...

S.Samuel - End Of Freestyle [Audio]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
You would have seen him lurking in the Coke and Vodka video, on DJ Cameo's show a good few weeks back, or you may be a loyal Regime fan and already know the name. S.Samuel hails from Colchester and is apart of the same crew as Dream Mclean and Siris called the Regime. SDot jumped on a heavy Flawless beat and rips it apart. So if you're bored of the older generation in Grime who simply aren't cutting it anymore, have a listen to this guy.

Mr Mitchell - Official Trailer [Video]

So the Mitchell Brothers are no longer a duo of cousins who infact call themselves brothers. From now on it's just Mr Mitchell. For those who don't know which one is which, it's Tony. The now solo Mitchell Brother linked up with Chas Appeti to bring you this stylishing advert for the first chapter of Teddy's new career. Look out for the next part on 1st April.

Keep Calm and Listen to Grime Re-stock [Clothing]

(Grime DJ Logan Sama of Kiss 100)
As seen on Rival in the Spartan Remix video and Siris in the Coke and Vodka video the Keep Calm and Listen to Grime t-shirts and jumpers have been re-stocked. The last batch sold faster than expected after appearing in the Spartan Remix video, and since it also appeared in the Coke and Vodka video too the demand has shot up again. There's twenty t-shirts and jumpers in this stock so get them whilst you can! The black tops with white print and the grey tops with black print have also been re-stocked today too. Buy one via our BigCartel here.

Rival vs Nytz EP [Free Download]

As you can clearly see from the blog layout, Rival vs Nytz EP is out now! With Lock Off The Rave out yesterday Rival decided to release a free Dubstep EP alongside producer Nytz. Nytz is the same producer who made the Range beat in which both Marger and Rival have vocalled. The Rival vs Nytz EP has eight tracks (including the intro) of Rival spitting over gritty and dark Dubstep beats produced by Nytz. Download here and hit the jump for the tracklisting.

Calibar Feat. Dot Rotten - Hard Work [Video]

I'm pretty sure Logan span this one the other week on his show. Either way, there's now a video and it's up for free download. With the Lost & Found mixtape released on Sunday a video from the mixtape was out just a day before the release on the 26th. With a mixtape boasting such features as Chipmunk, G-FrSh, Wretch 32 and Dot Rotten, it must have been a hard choice which track to pick for a video. With Dot on the hook as he has been many times before Hard Work was the chosen video. Download Lost & Found for free here.

Spooky - Beat This (Episode 3) [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
Third time around it's Spartan producer Spooky. The DJ/producer enjoyed a sucessful end to last year with the instrumental of Spartan, Kozzie's vocal really kicked everything off for him. Now the remix is out it's still all good for him. Spooky is the latest producer to take the ten minute challenge of making a beat from Tim and Barry. The beat does sound a bit familiar though...

Marger - MyThing (Kushwave Remix) [Radio Rip]

Unless you're one of Marger's nearest and dearest, or was at the G-Shock East Session the other Friday, I doubt you've heard this track before. Marger gave MistaJam the exclusive first play of the My Thing Dubstep remix. Officially it's called the Kushwave Remix, but it's Dubstep. It's not your now typical Dubstep remix with loads of wobbles and a stupidly heavy bass thankfully. Sibling produced the original beat and features on the hook.

Maxsta, Big Shizz & DeeKay - DJ Cameo Freestyles [Video]

A good few weeks back now DJ Cameo had some of the finest Grime youngsters around in the studio. As well as the above names mentioned Dream Mclean was also in the studio too. Maxsta, Big Shizz and DeeKay all spat a quick freestyle for the camera. Check out Maxsta's efforts below with the other two videos avaliable after the jump.

Dirty Danger Interview With Kids Of Grime [Video]

Now all the dust has settled since Skepta's tour everyone is back to their daily routine. Skepta's been on Radio One to explain his new video, Logan will host his first show in two weeks on Kiss 100 tonight and Dirty Danger sat down with Kids of Grime for a chat. The main focus of the interview was the tour itself, what is was like etc. But they also talked about I Ain't Rich Yet which is out on the 4th April.

Rapid - Step Back [Free Download]

Over the past eighteen month or so the producer known as Rapid has become more vocal. Not content with sitting behind the desk and vocalling the odd track anymore Rapid has been doing both recently. The latest being him once again on his own beat with the track entitled Step Back. The Ruff Sqwad producer decided to give away the track which you can listen to below and download here.

Teeza - Bounce EP [Release]

Finally Bounce is out. The Teeza production has been released via Logan Sama's label and has been doing the rounds for a while now. The vinyl test presses sold out as quickly as they were listed a few weeks back. For those who aren't great with their instrumentals in Grime it's the beat for Move by Fire Camp, Scrufizzer and Lady Leshurr. You'll also pick up Reebok Pumps, Switch and Shuffle for £2.76 or 79p each if you want to individual tracks. Head over to Amazon to pick the EP up now. Buy here.

Merky ACE - Splurt Freestyle [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
Vocalling a beat from his twin brother and producer Splurt, today we've got a new freestyle from Merky ACE. Even though Merky kicks off the freestyle with older bars, don't worry, he switches it up straight away in which these previous lyrics cleverly apply. Shoutouts to the Grime Report for the video, Blue Battlefield out 4th April.

Footsie - Ghost Train [Radio Rip]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
As DJ Semtex is Dirtee Skank's official DJ it was only right he got the first spin of Footsie's latest track. Foots laced up some lyrics for the same beat and title as Frisco, the Boy Better Know crew member also produced the track too. It's not the best beat Frisco has ever produced, it gets a bit annoying and repetitive, but Footsie doesn't slack with the bars as per usual.

Wiley - Soundboy Killer (Dot Rotten Reply) [Radio Rip]

It was only yesterday night Dot Rotten unleashed his send for Wiley entitled Pop Star. The title of Dot's send states the obviously really, but Wiley wasn't having it. One day later Wiley is back premiering his reply to the former OGz and Hood Starz on DJ Karnage's show in Rinse FM. Will chose a heavy beat for the track and it doesn't seem the war is going to end anytime soon...

Dot Rotten - Pop Artist (Wiley Send) [Audio]

I got told last Friday about Dot' send for Wiley and today I can reveal the audio. Dot Rotten isn't holding back with this send. Dot talks about Wiley's Twitter rants against Asians, Wiley making Pop music and Wiley biting Dot Rotten's style. Dot also takes pops at Wiley for cancelling his tour too. It looks like the war just got exciting again...

Dream Mclean & Siris - Coke & Vodka [Video]

The duo gave away Coke and Vodka a couple of weeks back after the responce it received after it's spin on BBC 1Xtra. About a week ago we saw the teaser to the video, tonight we've got he full length visual. Dream Mclean has been tipped to do big things in 2011, and Siris isn't lacking in talent either. Check out the Ring the Alarm mixtape for example (Download here). Also spot Siris wearing his Keep Calm and Listen to Grime jumper too. Re-stock is coming in one Tuesday via our BigCartel. Download Coke and Vodka for free here.

Nee-Hi - Bagel (Freestyle) [Video]

Something a bit different from Ipswich based Grime artist Nee-Hi today. Showing off the lighter-side of his character showing Grime doesn't always have to be dark and hyped up. Nee-Hi flows over a bouncy beat with a unusual video to match. The Bagel freestyle will make sense right at the end of the one take video.

Mz Bratt - Mayhem TV Inteview [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
She for some reason gave away Get Dark a few weeks back depite it having the potential to easily shift a few units. Mayhem TV caught up with Mz Bratt not too long ago for a quick chat whilst on tour in Liverpool with Roll Deep. You'll see footage of Mz Bratt performing Selecta and Get Dark, talk about touring worldwide, leaving All Around The World Records, plus Selecta gettting on the Radio 1 playlist.

Durrty Skanx & Marger - Street Starz Acapella Freestyle [Video]

 (Photography by Kids of Grime)
Last Friday G-Shock East held their monthly G-Shock Sessions which saw the likes of Snakeyman and D Double E perform. On the night Marger also performed a couple of tracks with Durrty Skanx in the crowd that night. Just around the corner from the G-Shock shop Street Starz caught up with the duo for an acapella freestyle. Listen out for Skanx bars for Flirta D...

Little Dee - Put It In A Bag Freestyle [Audio]

Fem Fel gave the beat out a week or two back so anyone could do their own version if they wished. Luckily one of the most consistant of artists around at the moment has decided to pick up on the beat. OGz Little Dee who's been working on more rap music than Grime recently has given us his two-cents worth with a vocal of the track. Check out the audio below.

Maxsta - 1Xtra Freestyle [Video]

Today's 1Xtra freestyle comes from the Grime kid Maxsta. With the Maxtape securely establishing him within the Grime scene Max has gone from strength to strength since then. The East Londoner recently signed a contract with SB.TV's new record label which is in connection with Sony. Here's Max's latest bars for the camera.

Dapz On The Map - Streets On Demand Interview [Video]

With a new free download doing the circits on the internet Streets On Demand caught up with Midlands based artist Dapz on the Map. Round 1 is just the first in a series of free downloads building up to Dapz' main mixtape. SOD spoke to him about the free download itself, where he's been hiding and why he's been quiet musically, plus his plans for the future. Download Round 1 here.

Tré Mission - Friday Freestyle [Video]

Yet to go back to Canada, Tré Mission is still over here in England at the moment. He's been simply building his name and networking since the start of Febuary it seems. Just the other day Tré announced on his Twitter that his next release will be Mission Impossible and will be avaliable within two months, so at least we've got some new material to look forward to from him. Until then, check his Friday Freestyle with Cameraman Sketch.

Little Dee @ I Luv Live [Video]

On Monday night Lewisham's Little Dee took a trip to Cargo, Shoreditch to perform a set at I Luv Live. With a live band backing him Littles took the oppertunity to perform his first single Let It Pour followed by Thinking of Who featuring Frisco and Nikki Marie. For his third and final track the OGz representer brought Mr Blue Borough himself on stage aka Tommy Bones. The duo performed the second track off of Light Work entitled Rain. Hit the jump for all three of the videos.

Durrty Goodz - 1Xtra Freestyle [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
The BBC all week have been putting out brand new freestyles from some of the best in the scene. So far we've heard Dot Rotten send for Wiley during his, as well as Black the Ripper (who's video got 60k views in 24 hours) plus Fem Fel both drop a some new lyrics too. Today it's the turn of one of the finest in the game, Durrty Goodz.

Skepta Doin' It Again Tour Footage [Video]

Over the past week or so I've been posting bits from Skepta's tour here and there. There's been footage of P Money and Dirty Danger in Scotland, plus even more footage of P Money in Birmingham. Cameraman Sketch was the official cameraman for the tour and has put together a complimation of footage from all the shows. You'll hear pretty much all the tracks from Skepta's album Doin' It Again, the crowd singing along with P Money, Dirty Dangers performances, plus Tinchy and Dappy showing up too as special guests.

StayFresh - Moment For Life + Raider Interview [Video]

It won't be one of the Grimiest tracks you'll ever hear from the Stay Fresh camp, but here's their latest video. Half-a-dozen of the collective of artists got together to vocal the same beat as Nicki Minaj and Canadian rapper Drake. You won't be hearing Nicki's voice on the hook though, but the crews lyrical content isn't slacking during this track one bit.

Also check out Raider's interview with Streets on Demand. Raider talks about his new single, When You Hear This One, his crew Stay Fresh and his plans for 2011.

Wariko - #SpitYourGame Freestyle [Video]

The latest artist to spit their fresh lyrics for the GrimeBlog camera is Nottingham's Wariko. The Midlands based Grime artist is clearly one of the most under-rated in the scene, but easily one of the best out of the whole the Midlands. Wariko dropped a twenty-two track mixtape just a few weeks back, so if you want to hear some more material from him download Puddin & Treacle here.

Royal T @ Bullet Time (Czech Republic/Prague) [Video]

Southampton based producer Royal-T recently took a trip across Europe to the Czech Republic for a booking. Royal-T had a DJ set at Bullet Time in Prague and we've got some footage from the night. Expect to hear various of his own productions including as P Money - 1UP, plus the usual Next Hype and Pow 2011. The sound is Grime isn't just limited to the UK...

Shystie - The Tresure Chest [Free Download]

With literally next to nothing in promotion it seems we've got a new mixtape from Shystie. I say new, but it's full of Shystie classics. Shystie asked her fans which tracks they would like her to give away an here's the result. You've got everything from One Wish to her version of Dizzee Rascal's I Luv U, plus Shy has also thrown on Bank Robbery with Ron'e Redeyez and her send for Lady Fury too. It also looks like Shystie is putting out a new mixtape full of new material in the near future too. So keep and eye out for that, and for the time being download the Tresure Chest mixtape here.

Devlin Live In Glasgow [Video]

Continuing his tour in Scotland from Edinburgh Devlin takes a trip Glasgow. The Bud, Sweat and Beers mini-tour continues onto Birmingham after the Glasgow date, but today we've only got footage from the Scottish show. You'll see Devlin perform several tracks including London City, Marching Through the Fog and Our Father.

SDotSamuel - Freestyle @ Coke and Vodka Video Shoot [Video]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
With the teaser of the video out the other day and the full video out on the 26th, Dream Mclean caught some footage from the day on his phone. Fellow Regime crew member SDotSamuel drops some bars for the camera, so hopefully we'll hear some material in the near future from him...

Dot Rotten - 1Xtra Freestyle [Video]

It's not the best freestyle we've heard from Dot Rotten, the beat simply doesn't match his flow. But we're not here to showcase this, we're here for his shots towards Wiley. Even from the outset he has bars for the Roll Deep frontman - "I tell the olders, you've had your chance". But this isn't the last of it, Dot really lets it all loose at the end of the freestyle...

Durrty Goodz - Who's That [Radio Rip]

(Photography by Kids of Grime)
Like many Grime tracks by the tops names in the scene this one got a spin on Logan's last night. Lifted from his forthcoming album Overall Durrty Goodz is slowing giving us more reasons to buy the release. We're hearing more and more of him on the radio, and of course the Wiley saga is only going to get the public talking too. This track is entitled Who's That. Overall out in May.

Dro Carey Feat. Trim - Lose My Head (Remix) [Release]

This track nearly slipped under the rader. Trim recently jumped on a Dro Carey remix which was released the other day. The former Roll Deep crew member was on the remix of Lose My Head which you'd class as Dubstep if anything. Don't expect loads of wobbles and a heavy bass though, it's towards the more electronic robot side of Dubstep. Scroll down to track five to listen and then buy the track.

Wrigley - Daily Duppy Freestyle [Video]

Looking slightly worse for wear at the time of shooting we've got a new Daily Duppy from Wrigley. Easily one of the best out of Manchester and apart of the Connect4 crew too. Wrigz is still apart of the A-List which Wiley put together, but we've yet to hear anything from the collective of artists in a long while now...

Black The Ripper, Strapzy, Ghetts, English Frank & DVS - 6 Million Ways [Video]

Sampling Sukh Knight's Born Invisible track which gave inspiration for the the title we've got an all-star line-up. But saying that there's not a Dubstep wobble around. Black the Ripper got together some of the best rappers around and one of the top boys in Grime too, Ghetts. As you can guess it's going to be more Rap than Grime with this one, but as the likes of Black the Ripper and the man formally known as Ghetto are involved, I thought it would only be right to showcase the video. Charlie Sloth was behind the camera and idea for the video, and you can buy the track straight away from iTunes here.
