Tinie did okay in Grime, but you can't really call him a sell out. He wasn't as influencial as Dizzee Rascal or Wiley. Nor did he swear not to ever quit Grime like Chipmunk did. He sort of just made music he liked, and it was a natural progression into the mainstream for the South Londoner. Nowadays he's making club bangers, and they aren't really cheesy pop ones either. This time around he's hooked up with the Swedish House Mafia for the Dance track Miami 2 Ibiza. Tinie even flew over to Sweden to shoot the video infact. Click here to watch the video.
Sway - The Delivery 2 (Lost In Transit) [Release]
The follow up to the free mixtape the Delivery by Sway is out on the 20th October, the same day as the MOBO's. The first edition wasn't amazing in my opinion, let's hope this time around the sequal is better. Sway use to be one of the best and funniest UK Hip-Hop artists back in the day. Like many Grime artists though, Sway has gone mainstream and is now recording with the likes of Akon.
Crayzee Banditt - Avalanche Music 3 [Release]
First we had JME, then Grime legend Wiley, and now we've got Crayzee Banditt. Crayzee has worked with everyone from Neckle Camp, to P Money, to Jammer. During my interview with Skepta, he said he doubted he'll be the third person in line for an Avalanche instrumental release, but I'm sure we'll get one out of him in the future. The third edition in this Avalanche series is packed full of classic from Banditt, twenty-two infact. You can pre-order the CD now via UK Recordshop, and hit the jump for the tracklisting.
Terror Danjah Feat. D Double E - Undeniable [Free Download]
Seems too good to be true this one. One of Grime's top producers featuring one of Grime's top MCs on a track together, and it's a free download. Undeniable is taken from Terror Danjah's forthcoming release under the same name. For this track, he called upon Grime legend and one half of the Newham Generals D Double E to come in and vocal his beat. It wasn't a bad decision either. Check the audio below, and download the track here.
Kano Feat. Chase & Status - Spaceship [Release]
Easily one of the best tracks off the album, hense this release. Kano teamed up with the dynamic duo producers Chase & Status for this Dubstep'y track Spaceship. If you've read our review of Method to the Maadness, you know how highly we rated the track compared to others on the album. The former N.A.S.T.Y Crew member talks about "a ‘she’ not as you would expect, but rather about the arrogance and stubbornness of young girls in society, ‘she floats around the globe like she owns it… she’s sweet 16 and wants a Rollie’, the song is Kano at his best with his breath taking lyrics and a great production by Chase & Status" (lifted from the review). There isn't a date set for the single release as of yet, but check out the audio below.
Wiley - Joombi [Release]
The Radio Kid reached 8th place in the Electronic charts, which isn't bad for one weeks promotion. On to the next Wiley release, and it's Joombi. This time around it's a joint combination of newly formed label Launchpad Records and A-List Records. Joombi has been floating around the internet for a good month or so now, and as of this Sunday, you can buy the track from iTunes. Check the clip of the track below, ZDot on productions.
StayFresh - Daily Duppy Freestyle [Video]

(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
Yesterday we saw Shorty's Daily Duppy freestyle, today we've got those guys from the Midlands, StayFresh. The Midlands crew have made a big bang during 2010, and it doesn't look like they're going to slow down anytime soon. Check out Macca and the rest of the crew below.
Big Narstie - Pain [Video]
A bit of a depressing track from Big Narstie this time around. Big Narst talks about struggling during the recession and how he won't talk all the 'fly boy talk'. Pain is a real talk track from Narst where he talks about the general state of his life and many others during these hard economical times. The Grime artist also takes a pop-shot at chart topping Tinchy Stryder - "Tinchy Stryder's been shit from day, what's new?". A bit ironic Big Narstie said that a few days after Tinchy released his III EP which includes Famous, of which the opening lyrics are "I know your only hating on me 'cos I'm famous..."
Shakira Feat. Dizzee Rascal - Loca [Video]
A few weeks back we brought you the 'English version' of Loca featuring Dizzee Rascal. As you can guess with a name like Shakira on the track, it's not exactly going to be remotely 'Urban'. I'm simply posting the video to keep all you Dizzee Rascal fans up-to-date with what the boy from Bow is up to. Head over to the Sun's website here to check the video. Skip to just over a minute long to hear/see Dizzee Rascal.
Edit: You can now watch the video below.
JME - I'm The Best [Radio Rip]
Freshly ripped from DJ Cameo's show yesterday night, we've got a track from JME's forthcoming album Blam! Track fourteen of the album sees the Boy Better Know CEO spitting over a Rude Kid beat self-proclaiming himself to be the best in Grime. Debatable really. Check out the audio below. Pre-order Blam! over at UK Recordshop.
Tinchy Stryder - III EP [Review]
Tinchy Stryder’s III EP was apparently released for the Breakaway star’s original followers but I think it will fail to satisfy the hardcore grime fans.
Shorty - Daily Duppy Freestyle [Video]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
Love him or hate him, you can't deny Shorty done well during his Daily Duppy. As he said, it's only a quick freestyle, but he does have a catchy flow this time around. The lyrics are flow well, and like I said, the flow itself is catchy. Overall, it's worth a listen. Check out the BBK member's freestyle below.
Bashy Backstage @ T4 RockCorps [Video]
He's been quite quiet for a while now, but don't forget, his forthcoming single Fantasy is out now! Bashy recently performed at the T4 RockCorps, and whilst there he filmed a short video of what goes on backstage. Expect cameos from Aggro, Bluey Robinson, Wretch 32 and more.
A Day In The Life Of Tinie Tempah [Video]
For all those who wonder what Mr Tinie Tempah gets up to on a day-to-day bases, here's the answer. Tinie decides to show us his typical day by taking his camera literally everywhere with him. First off he hits the BBC Radio One studios before moving onto Global Radio then Capital. Tinie also takes you behind the scenes of a photoshoot and even films a special show too.
Also, Tinie recently done a little video diary with Eric Turner too. Check that out below.
Merky ACE - I'll Never Quit [Free Download]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
It's another free download from Lewisham based Grime artist Merky Ace. It was only last week he jumped on Rude Kid's Electric beat and ripped it apart, this week, ZDot's Dirty Date gets the royal treatment. Ghetts originally used it for the Intro of Calm Before the Storm, later followed by Kushwave's Rival. This time around, Family Tree's Merky Ace shows us his two-cents worth. It's brand new bars from Merky vocalling a track the producer of 2010. Download the 320kbps here, or the WAV here.
Mr Mitch – Fright Night EP [Review]
Mr Mitch’s first release on his own label Gobstopper records is a banger with a bit of a difference, with the original song and then 4 remixes each offering a different take on Grime music. With this release Mr Mitch is pushing is taking on Grime music into new boundaries and I’m looking forward to seeing more stuff from his label for sure.
Flirta D & Lioness Live @ The Sunday Show [Video]
The originator of vocal gimmicks in Grime performed recently at the Sunday Show. Flirta D performed some classic lines and infamous sounds too. Following up from Flirta's performance, Lioness stepped up to the stage to perform over S-X's Woooo Riddim.
Dream Mclean - Devil In Some Hi-Tops [Audio]
Lifted from the forthcoming release 10/10/10, Dream Mclean has decided to leak Devil In Some Hi-Tops. Bink is on the production for this Hip-Hop track. If you read my interview with Dream, then this'll come at no suprise to you. With the Hip-Hop tracks, you'll of course get Grime and a bit of Dubstep, and even a bit of Rock inspired music too. If this reaches 500 plays, then Dream Mclean said he'll put it up for download. Also, for those who do want to read my interview with Dream, click here.
Edit: It's now up for download.
Edit: It's now up for download.
Tinie Tempah - Written In The Stars @ 1Xtra Live [Video]
A few years back, a fresh-faced Tinie Tempah was all over Channel U with his underground hit Wifey. Skip a few years down the line, he's now got two number one's and a number two in the charts. Pass Out went gold, and Frisky went silver. Now with a new found stardome, Tinie is also gracing the biggest stages around. He hit various festivals during the summer, that includes performing on-stage with Snoop Dogg at Glastonbury, and now he's performing on the BBC 1Xtra Live stage. Check out the performance of his new single Written in the Stars below.
DespaCam Meets P Money @ Rinse FM [Video]
After a rave in Manchester, P Money still found the time to hit Rinse FM in London after a long drive back. Despa of Stay Fresh was there with his trust camera to catch up with the OGz star for an interview. P talks about how he's been listening to Dubstep since he was about seventeen, future singles, hood videos, OG Season Volume 2, plus, his joint-mixtape with Blacks.
Your Time - Rival, Kozzie & Marger (Ep. 1) [Video]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
Recently Donatella launched her website, and now she's got her own little online show. Shot at the King Apparel store, Rival, Kozzie and Marger go back-to-back to see who has the best bars. They all drop a quick 32 bars and you as viewers can decide who wins. Either leave a comment on the video, email YourTimeMusic@hotmail.co.uk, or vote on Grime Forum. Infact, leave your comments below if you want to say who you think was the best of the trio if you wish too. But that won't go towards the official votes.
Tinchy Stryder - III EP [Free Download]
Finally, it's here, Grime from Tinchy Stryder. Earlier in the week via Logan Sama's Grime show, we had heard Champions by Ruff Sqwad. The track was so nice, it was played twice. Champions was also considered by the blog itself to be track of the week, but Rival beat the legendary Grime crew to it. Download the seven track EP here, and hit the jump for the tracklisting.
Lemon Sessions 1 [Free Download/Video]
Thanks to the guys over at Grime Forum, for you today, we've got a very big Grime set. You've got a few up and coming Grime artists such as Rival and Marger, Nottingham's finest with Wariko and Fangol, Blaze and Jammin make a feature, as does veteran Lee Brasco. Score5 was back-to-back with Nottingham's BeatGeeks on the decks. Cameraman Sketch was also present to catch everything on his trust camera. You can download the set here, buy the full quality over at UK Recordshop for only 99p - here, and catch the footage from the day after the jump.
Nico Lindsay - 788 Freestyle [Audio]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
For those who don't know 788 or Seven Eighty Eight are a clothing brand. You may have seen Nico Lindsay wearing it before, if not, check Tré Mission's latest video here. After supplying Nico with clothing, Nico has paid the brand back by doing a little freestyle for them. Using the instrumental Nasty remixed by Sukh Knight, it's a big Grime track by Nico. Scratcha DVA on the buttons originally. Side note: Nico heard the beat via this blog infact.
Fumin - My Life [Video]
Since releasing Mood Swings as a free download, Fumin has been consistant with new tracks and video. Here's the latest example. Lifted from Mood Swings, track eight entitled My Life has had a video shot for it via Grime Daily. It's one of the better tracks off the free mixtape, so I'm glad Fumes shot a video for it. Don't forget to check my interview with the man himself a few weeks back here.
Tinchy Stryder - Third Strike [Artwork]
It's not the best cover I've ever seen in my life, but here it is. As of today via his blog, Tinchy Stryder leaked the cover for his third album entitled Third Strike. When I say it's not the best, I mean it's pretty rubbish. It looks like a quick ten minute job on photoshop. Third Strike is out on 29th November.
Also, check the latest episode of Tinchy's video diary below.
Little Dee Interview [Video]
Grime Daily catch up with OGz crew member Little Dee just after appearing on Charlie Sloth's 1Xtra show. It turns out there's a bit of anything on Light Work. A bit of Grime, a bit of Dubstep, and no suprise, a bit of Rap too. Also during the interview, Littles lets us know there's going to be a few singles next year, as well as OG Season Volume 2.
Tré Mission - When I Come Thru [Video]
A little something from the otherside of the pond, not America, Canada. Tré Mission is the Canadian Grime kid at the moment. Tre is an example of the Grime sound spreading worldwide. Tré's latest video being entitled When I Come Thru with Deeco on the buttons. It's a head-nodding bouncy kind of track, and the video to go with it is brilliant. The video is miles better than many of the hood video's I've blogged recently infact.
Tinchy Stryder, Roll Deep & Devlin Backstage @ 1Xtra Live [Video]
It's safe to say that 1Xtra Live this year was a massive success. 1Xtra booked the likes of the Grime boys such as Tinchy, the crew of the moment Roll Deep, and the kid from Dagenham, Devlin. Katy B who's been smashing up Dubstep with her vocals also performed, and so did man of the moment Cee-Lo with his track Fuck You. But since this is a Grime blog, we'll just focus on that. Below we've got three interviews via Max of 1Xtra with the Grime artists, check them out.
Tinchy Stryder backstage at 1Xtra Live
Roll Deep backstage at 1Xtra Live
Devlin backstage at 1Xtra Live
Skepta Feat. Preeya Kalidas - Cross My Heart [Artwork]
It seems like it was ages ago when we first heard Skepta's new track Cross My Heart. But, the single still hasn't been released. This time around, Skepta called in Preeya Kalidas for help on the track, and overall, it's a decent track. But you can't help but feel it's taken ages to come out though. Afterall, we did first hear it on the 21th August, saw the video quickly follow on the 1st September, but it's not going to be released until the 17th October. Above is the official artwork, and for those yet to hear the track or even see the video, check below.
Dogzilla - Forever Dieing Young [Video]
Straight out of the blue, we've got the new hood video by Dogzilla. We haven't heard of Dogzy since his mixtape A Dog Is For Life, Not Just For Christmas. That was a late release, coming out in January, not before/around Christmas. But, Dogzilla returns with his new video Forever Dieing Young. Dogzy goes quite deep with this track, he talks about living around his manor and being trapped in the system.
JayKast - Counseling Sessions [Free Download]
Apparently this is mean't to be JayKast's last release, but I can safely say it isn't. Counseling Sessions contains everything from Jay's Daily Duppy freestyle to his Wooo Riddim, and it also includes his recent Fire In The Booth freestyle too. But for those who are worried about him quitting, don't. JayKast is releasing a new CD in January. Don't believe me? Click here to see the advertising poster. Counseling Sessions is broken down into four parts. So click the hyperlinks below to download the mixtape.

Rival - Return of the Rivz [Artwork]
Rival is one of the most exciting artists coming up in the scene at the moment. We've already seen him release the Laugh Now, Hate Later EP this year, and he's set to release Return of the Rivz at the end of next month. We haven't got the tracklisting yet, but we do know at least two tracks that'll be on the free download. Earlier in the week Rival gave away a little teaser to the mixtape with two tracks up for free download, those being Funky House and Range. Range being the same beat by Nytz as Marger used. Return of the Rivz is out on Halloween (31st October), and also, look out for Jus Rival 2, out on the 12th October.
Rival - Morgue Freestyle [Track Of The Week]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
This week it was hard to pick the Track of the Week. We had the Labrinth production with Devlin and Tinchy placing their lyrics on top. Ruff Sqwad made a return and Champions was played twice on Logan's show. Merky Ace jumped on Rude Kid's hyped up instrumental Electric which included sing-a-long lyrics such as 'normal' and 'standard'. Rival made his latest free download over Wiley's Morgue beat, and that's what I've selected as this weeks Track of the Week.
Merky's was a close second due to picking an amazing instrumental and using reload bars throughout, but Rival edged it for me. Picking such a classic instrumental could of gone really bad, but luckily for him, it turned out great. Pick up the free download here, and listen to it below.
Tinie Tempah Interview On T4 [Video]
If you don't hear his music on the radio, more than likely you'll see his face on the television. There isn't a day that's gone by since Tinie Tempah released Pass Out we haven't seen or heard from the young South Londoner. The Frisky star recent hit the Channel 4 studios to have a quick chat about his new single - Written In The Stars. Also, don't miss Tinie's interview on the Guardian online from a few days back (here).
Desperado Feat. Breakman - No One On Dis Earth [Video]
Lifted from the mixtape Barz for Days, OGz Desperado hooks up with Breakman for the track No One On Dis Earth and Lockdown Records to shoot the video. It's not really Grime, more Rap than anything. Lockdown Records once again showing us why they're one of the best hood video specialists in the UK at the moment.
P Money - Slang Like This [Release]
We heard it way back at the end of Febuary, after I sent the track to ChannelUKGrime on YouTube and 270k hits later, it's finally getting a release. Slang Like This by OGz P Money has been released via True Tiger. The artwork is pretty good too. Lyrics from the track have been encorperate into the title, and it's looking pretty effective. You can pick up the radio edit, the original mix and the instrumental now over at Amazon, click here. For those who haven't heard of the track, check the radio rip below.
Skilzie Feat. Shox - Take 'Em Out [Video]
Building a catalogue of music is important, as well is a catalogue of videos too. Baring this in mind, Skilzie, alongside Shox, have shot a quick hood video for their track Take 'Em Out. The track mainly by Skilzie, with Shox jumping in during the last thirty-seconds or so to spit some bars too.
Tinchy Stryder Feat. Taio Cruz - Second Chance [Video]
You've probably heard it many times on the radio by now, but here's the official video. Tinchy's tracks are all sounding a bit too similiar nowadays. Tinie Tempah had that Drum & Bass edge to his tracks at the end with Pass Out and Frisky, then he switched it up for Written In The Stars. Skepta always changes his style up for his singles, none of them sound the same. Maybe it's time for Tinchy to re-invent himself...
Maxsta, Doller Da Dustman & Big Shizz - Fire Bars [Free Download]
Where you see the name Doller Da Dustman and anything regarding a new track, you'll see ZDot. Once again, the duo have linked up for the track Fire Bars. The Grime kid Maxsta jumped on the track too alongside Big Shizz. The track is exactly what the title says, Fire Bars. Doller is one of the most hard working Grime artists around at the moment, as is ZDot on the production side. Maxsta is constantly improving and Big Shizz has potential to be a very good artist too. Download here.
Random Impulse X Devlin - Runaway Refix [Audio]
I don't normally blog Random Impulse's refixes, but I always listen to them though. More time they're not Grime related, but as Random refixes Devlin's new single Runaway, I may as well. What Impluse does is he recreates the whole track from scratch himself. He re-writes the lyrics, makes the beat himself with his guitar, then records it and puts the refixes out every Sunday. Devlin talks about running away with his girlfriend, so Random Impulse has decided to write a track in the eyes of Devlin's mother so-to-say.
Rival, Marger & Kozzie - Darq E Freaker Freestyle [Video]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
Before the No Hats, No Hoods Studio Launch Party, Ralph Hardy caught up with the Kushwave duo of Rival and Marger alongside Kozzie. The trio spat over three seperate Darq E Freaker beats. Darq E being the man behind Tempa T's infamous track Next Hype.
Edit: Another Rival, Kozzie and Marger freestyle added - 01/10/10
And another - 04/10/10
Skanx Feat. Sky Da Vandal - Light Up A Set (EXCLUSIVE) [Audio]
You'll have probably seen him at Mic Fight, or heard of him having done tracks with Fumin or Killa P, and here's his latest track. Alongside Eski Beat Recordings female producer Flava D, Skanx and Sky Da Vandal made this little Grime track entitled Light Up A Set. And over here at Once Upon A Grime, we've got the exclusive. Check it out below.
Sharky Major - Major League [Release]
Since Mic Fight, Sharky Major hasn't exactly been screaming his name from the rooftops, he's been a bit quiet. For those who were wondering why, he's your answer. Since the clash of the Major's, Sharky has been in the studio with the likes of Ghetts, Griminal, Jammer and Lil Nasty to name a few names. There's no names regarding productions, but with someone like Major, your not going to be dissapointed. The Shark Attack Remix has even been thrown on there as the final track of the mixtape. Major League is out on the 11th October, and you can pre-order it over at UK Recordshop here. Hit the jump for the tracklisting.
Merky Ace - The Freestyle [Free Download]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
Since I started listening to Merky Ace, he's improved dramatically in my opinion. His flow is more balanced, the way he pronounces his lyrics is more clear, and the beats he chooses are always of a high standard. Merky's latest freestyle over Rude Kid's Electric beat is a perfect example of this. He's got the reload bars, the sing-a-long lyrics (normal and standard), and the word content shows why he's being tipped for the top in the future. Best of all, it's a free download. Click here.
Hammer & Royal T - Explosive [Video]
It's been nearly six weeks since we heard Explosive for the first time on the radio, the behind the scenes about three weeks ago, and today we've got the actual video. And let's face it, that's a pretty quick turn around to get the video out there. You won't even have to wait long till the track is released either, just under two weeks as it'll be on the 6th October. Royal T put together a great production with this one.
Griminal Signs To Universal [News]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
We all knew it was coming, he was going to get signed eventually. But, as of today, we can officially confirm that Griminal has signed to Universal. Even though he's made Grime in a while, but tracks like Supa Dupa are still quite respectable. What was even better though was seeing Grim turn up to the No Hats No Hoods Studio Launch Party and spit some bars on the stage. Congrats to him, and good luck.
Newham Generals Feat. Skepta - Bag Of Grease [Radio Rip]
There's five tracks on the Bag of Grease EP, and now we've heard for of them. The only one left is Get It In. Ripped from 1Xtra the other night, today we've got the track with the same name as the EP, Bag of Grease. The Newham Gens drew in Skepta to jump on the feature for this one. For those who say that Skepta doesn't make Grime anymore, here's an example of him still Grime.
Scrufizzer - S-Star TV Freestyle [Video]
As well as tearing down the stage at the No Hats, No Hood Studio Launch party, West London's finest spat a few bars for the S-Star TV camera. Using the typical skippy flow which he's known for, Scrufizzer shows us why he's rated as one of the best youngsters in the Grime scene.
Rival - Return Of The Rivz Teaser / Morgue Freestyle [Free Download]
(Photography by Kids of the Underground)
In a build up to his forthcoming release Return of the Rivz, Rival is giving away two free tracks. The first being the track every Grime kid should love, Funky House. But don't be confused, he hasn't jumped on the genre we all love to hate. The second being Range. Rival's used the same instrumental as Kushwave crew member Marger this time around. Nytz is on the production for that one. Download the tracks here, and listen below.
Rival - Funky House
Rival - Range
But that isn't the end of things though. Recently Rival asked the Grime Forum to pick him a beat to spit over, and Dirty Date was that beat. Rival tore the ZDot production apart. This time around, using the same system, Rival has jumped on the classic Wiley beat entitled Morgue. Another free download, download here.
